Job Description
As a telecoms structural engineer you are responsible for designing telecommunication
support structure so that it can fulfil a specific purpose, and remain safe, economic and
functioning throughout its intended lifetime.
You will have excellent mathematical, IT and analytical skills. You are expected to be detail
oriented, creative and possess amazing problem-solving skills. To ensure success, you
should display an investigative nature and must be accurate, commercially aware and
have great communication skills with a keen interest in ensuring the safety and physical
integrity of large structures. You will report to your designated principal engineer or, in
their absence, a director.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
• Analyse simple and complex structures using fundamental engineering principles;
• Construct finite element representation of real-life structures using industry and
proprietary in -house FE software;
• Apply relevant loads to FE models to assess structural suitability;
• Consider the strength of construction materials and select appropriately;
• Provide technical advice on safe designs and construction;
• Prepare calculations, reports, designs and drawings;
• Manage projects with respect to deadlines and budgetary constraints;
Job Requirements and Qualifications:
• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (essential).
• 2 years of work experience as a Mechanical, Design or Structural Engineer (essential).
• Professionally registered with recognised Engineering Institution or working towards
accreditation.
• Project management experience.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials and awareness of legal regulations.
• Sound understanding of physics and mathematics.
• Sound understanding of system structural response with respect to forces, moments
and deflections.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
• Excellent communication including the ability to liaise with professionals from other
disciplines.
• Three-dimensional conceptual skills.
• Analytical thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
• Meticulous attention to detail with the superb organizational skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Inquisitive nature with motivation for self-advancement.
• Proficient user of Microsoft office suite (in particular Excel).
• Ability to work remotely.
