HEAD OF FINANCE AND TREASURY

Job Purpose

To manage the day-to-day financial activities of the Company, including; financial accounting, reporting, consolidation, cash flow, auditing and overseeing all tax compliance issues.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the Central Treasury System

• Carry out analysis, reviews, cost benefit analysis, research, valuations and interpretations for all new products, services, systems etc.

• Ensure proper month end closure process

• Deliver all monthly financial reports to Management

• Manage a team and ensure all financial processes are followed

• Consolidate all entities monthly

• Oversee reporting deadlines for all branches and affiliate

• Manage stakeholders in the upgrade process of our accounting software

• Train and develop staff

• Assist with the implementation of funding strategies by applying Treasury policies in order to maintain adequate financial liquidity and generate returns on investments.

• Manage banking relationships and develop assessment criteria for banks and banking services to minimize the cost of banking.

• Ensure that the process for payments to suppliers and staff is followed

• Provide the business with reliable, timely and relevant economic and financial intelligence and communicate the impact.

• Ensure reports from the reporting system support month end analysis

• Deliver accurate and timely monthly reports for Executive management review and onward submission to the Board

• Ensure internal customer requirements are met and vendors are paid accurately and efficiently

• Identify, develop and implement the most efficient tax strategy aimed at minimizing the tax burden on the company.

• Co-ordinate payroll processing, reporting and analysis.

• Ensure that internal controls are maintained in order to provide integrity to the entire payroll process.

• Manage the preparation of relevant payroll management reports.

• Ensure that payroll returns are filed in accordance with statutory provisions.

• Assist with team leadership, develop every member of team to ensure optimal performance and hold people accountable.

• Perform regular reviews of the activities in the areas of responsibility to ensure that continuous improvement is achieved.

• Prepare annual performance appraisal for direct reports

Competencies

• Must have in-depth understanding of financial statements and financial systems

• Ability to create accurate reports to meet internal reporting and analysis requirements

• Ability to take multiple data sets and variables and create meaningful reports for a variety of audiences

• Possess proven project management skills

• Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex numerical data

• High degree of technical/system aptitude including Excel, Access, and Data Warehousing

• Possess strong communication skills both verbal and written, adaptable to all levels of management.

• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.

• Possess a high degree of initiative, drive, confidence and ability to enjoy fact paced work environment.

• Professional, flexible and team oriented.

Minimum Qualification and Work Experience

• Certified Accountant with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in finance, including 8 years in the financial sector and 5 years in a managerial role.

• Knowledgeable in the use of accounting software and Microsoft packages.

• To have been involved in a significant accounting change management process

• Prior process improvement experience is required

The remuneration includes the salary range of GHS 7000. 00 – 8200. 00, fuel reimbursement, Medical, Provident Fund and Performance based bonus.
